Betty Ann Ferguson, age 86, of Southern Pines, died Tuesday, June 13, 2023 after a brief illness at the Jim and Betsy Bryan Hospice House in Pittsboro, NC.
Born in Pinehurst, she was the daughter of E.B. Wiseman and Evelyn Calcutt Wiseman and grew up in Murdocksville. She attended school in Pinehurst where she graduated.
Betty married Robert (Bob) Ferguson and together they made their home in the country near Southern Pines.
A loving wife and wonderful mother to two children, she also pursued an at home career in cake baking and quickly became known as “The Cake Lady.” Her business thrived as she was a true artist with frosting. She retired from baking in 2022.
Betty Ann will be sorely missed not only by family, but by her close friends and the many wonderful customers she had over the years.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Kaye Ferguson of Seven Lakes; a son, David Wayne Ferguson of Southern Pines; a niece, Paula Palmer Williams of Pinebluff; a nephew, Ed Williams and great nephew Colt Williams, both of Pinebluff.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Avenue, Southern Pines, NC 28387. A private graveside service will be held a Bethesda Cemetery.
