Emilia Carmela Coppola, 71, of Pinehurst, passed peacefully at Fox Hollow Assisted Living on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023.
Born in Queens, NY, November of 1951, she was the daughter of the late Mario and Fedora (Pitta) Filoseta. Shortly after her high school graduation, Amy started working for the New York Power Authority, where she met Philip Coppola. The two married October 14, 1973 and moved to the Bronx to start a family. Once the children were old enough, she returned to the work force. She worked in the medical field as an Administrative Assistant for 15 years. Amy also taught CCD at The Visitation Church, Bronx, NY and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Yorktown Heights, NY. In 2013, Amy and Philip relocated to Shallotte, NC.
At home, Amy “ruled the roost”. She was a great cook and kept the house in order. She took exceptional care of the kids, making sure their homework was done, they were clean and presentable and behaved themselves. She loved animals, movies and music.
In addition to her parents, Amy was predeceased by her husband, the late Philip Coppola. She is survived by their sons: James Coppola, wife Lindsey, Paul Coppola, wife Crystal and Anthony Coppola, wife Paula. She was the sister of Lorraine Filoseta, and lifelong friend of Al Lodovichetti, and wife Trish. Amy was the loving grandmother of Isabella, Abigayle, Noelle, George, Annabel, Julia and Philip.
A funeral mass will be celebrated, Thursday, Oct. 19th, at 11:00 at Sacred Heart Church, 300 Dundee Rd. Pinehurst.
