William “Buddy” Curtis Hoyle, age 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on August 13, 2018.

He was born in Kannapolis, NC on April 19, 1929, to William Columbus Hoyle and Evelyn Sides Hoyle. Buddy had one brother, Bobby Nolan Hoyle (wife Annie Pearl Prevatte Hoyle). He also had many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. As a boy growing up, he was part of a close-knit family that included lots of cousins, aunts, and uncles.

In 1951 Buddy married the love of his life, Lois Causey Hoyle. They had two daughters Linda and Connie (Paul). They shared 67 wonderful years together and created many loving memories. He also served his country as an Army Veteran in Germany.

Buddy attended First Baptist Church of Vass for many years. He loved his church and served in many capacities. He taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served as a Deacon. He had memorized so much of the Bible, he could easily quote his favorite scriptures.

Many people knew Buddy from the Town Center Barber Shop in Southern Pines. He loved the interaction with his customers and made many friendships there. He did not retire until he was 79 and still talked about how much he missed his customers.

Anyone who knew Buddy well, knew the conversation would somehow turn to fishing. He loved to fly fish and taught many of his friends to fly fish. He enjoyed tying his own flies and had a workshop set up where he spent many happy hours creating and tying his own flies. He also enjoyed hunting with friends and family and had a talent for training his hunting dogs.

His favorite Bible verse was “But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the hearts of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” On Monday morning Buddy was finally able to see all these things that God had stored up for him and is now rejoicing with his Lord and Savior!

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 15 from 6-8 at First Baptist Church of Vass. Funeral service will be held Thursday August 16 at 2:00pm at the Church in Vass.

He is survived by his wife Lois, daughters Linda and Connie (Paul) of Moore County.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to FirstHealth Hospice at 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC. 28374
