Commander Morgan Hammac, (Ret) 63 of Whispering Pines, passed away suddenly on March 9, 2018. 

He leaves behind his beloved wife and soul mate of 33 years, Sandra Bradford Hammac; two devoted children, Mac (fiancé Amy Damone) and Ash Hammac; mother and father-in-law, Faye and Olin Welsh; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mr. John Billingsley III and Dr. Cheryl Billingsley of Richmond, VA, Mr. James and Mrs. Adele Bradford of Whispering Pines, Mrs. John Garst and Patty Brandon Garst of Conyers, GA; 9 nieces and nephews and 5 grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Lou Hammac; brother, John Hammac; father-in-law, James Garrett Bradford and grandmother-in-law, Mrs. Lena Turner of Bruce, MS.

Morgan was a Naval Aviator Pilot and served in helicopter mine countermeasures with HM 16 “SeaHawks” in Norfolk, Virginia where he flew the MH-53 Sea Stallion. He retired from the Navy in 1999 and has since worked with the Department of Defense- Veterans Administration as an IT Specialist

Morgan loved to travel with Sandy and his family. One of his favorite places to visit with Sandy was the gulf coast of Florida. He was a devoted father and husband along with raising three West Highland White terriers. Morgan had a heart of gold, always willing to help and asking for nothing in return. Morgan was loved and cherished by many who will miss him dearly. He now rests in eternal peace in heaven.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 6:00PM at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines with visitation following until 8:00PM. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Whispering Pines Fire and Rescue 16 Hardee Lane Carthage, NC 28327.
