Two people from out of town are facing several charges after being arrested in Moore County for fraud/forgery of prescription medication and other charges.
Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced Friday the arrests of Kasean Jones, 19, of Concord, and Cherri Armstrong, 21, of Mooresville.
The sheriff said the suspects were arrested following a drug investigation. They were arrested on March 10.
“During the investigation, approximately (140) milliliters of Promethazine with Codeine were obtained, and (240) milliliters were attempted to be obtained by prescription fraud/forgery,” said Fields. “Promethazine with Codeine is a Schedule V Controlled Substance in the North Carolina Controlled Substance Act.”
Jones was charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud/forgery, obtaining property by false pretense, two counts of trafficking opium or heroin, three counts of identity theft, two counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, two counts of attempting to obtain controlled substance by forgery/fraud, two counts of attempting to traffick in opiates by possession, three counts of felony conspiracy, and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substance.
Armstrong was charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud/forgery, obtaining property by false pretense, two counts of trafficking opium or heroin, three counts of identity theft, two counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, two counts of attempting to obtain controlled substance by forgery/fraud, two counts of attempting to traffick in opiates by possession, three counts of felony conspiracy, and maintaining a vehicle/D=dwelling place for controlled substance.
Jones’ bond was set at $500,000. Armstrong was given a $300,000 bond.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
