The Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department announced Monday that the playground at Rassie Wicker Park is being renovated to include inclusive play features and new surfacing so that children of all abilities can enjoy it.

A collaboration between the Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department and Moore County Schools will install inclusive play features in an expanded playground footprint as provided by Barrs Recreation and BCI Burke Playgrounds.

New equipment was delivered to the site on Monday and work will begin immediately replacing both the play structures and surfacing.

The playground area will be closed during renovations, so residents and visitors are encouraged to utilize Camelot Playground at Cannon Park while construction is ongoing.

The renovation is anticipated to take 5-6 weeks for demolition and installation and should be completed by the end of June.
