The Rotary Club of The Sandhills awarded five trade industry scholarships, each worth up to $2,000, to support students pursuing certifications at Sandhills Community College this fall. Covering tuition, books, fees, and certification costs, these scholarships provide a pathway to careers in construction trades, the automotive industry, and manufacturing.
“A heartfelt thank you to the members and anonymous donors of the Rotary Club’s Charitable Foundation, a 501(c) (3) organization—these scholarships embody our community’s dedication to education and the future of local youth,” said the Rotary Club in a press release. “This annual scholarship program thrives thanks to the dedication of Rotary club members, Moore County Schools’ educators, scholarship coordinators, and Sandhills Community College staff. Their combined efforts have created life-changing opportunities for students.”
The 2026 awardees include: from North Moore High School, Luke Atkins (agriculture), Fernando Rebollar Colin (electrical industry), Ed De la Cruz (electrical industry), Nathalie Hernandez-Jimenez (construction industry), and from Union Pines High School, Nicholas Cameron (electrical industry).
