Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced that a woman from West End has been arrested and is now facing charges of fraud.
Fields said in a press release that his office received a report of fraud in the Carthage area on Jan. 24.
The investigation led to the arrest of 64-year-old Belinda Brown on Feb. 8.
Brown is facing charges of one count of felony forgery of deeds or wills, one count of felony illegally performing notarial acts, and one count of felony illegal use of a notary seal.
No other details were released.
Brown was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under no bond pursuant to HB-813 pending a first court appearance in Moore County district court on Feb. 28. She is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
