A mother was arrested for allegedly shooting her daughter in the early morning hours on Tuesday, said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a news release.
The alleged crime took place in the 900 block of Shaw Road in Carthage at 1 a.m.
When deputies arrived on scene, they located the 29-year-old daughter with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Deputies were able to quickly identify and detain Cheryl McInnis, the mother, in connection with the shooting, said Fields.
McInnis, 52, of Carthage, is facing charges of one count of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of assault inflicting serious injury.
The suspect was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond pending a first court appearance in Moore County district court on Dec. 15 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
