Suspect at large after armed robbery at gas station

A Monday morning accident has claimed the life of a teenager.

The accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Army Road in Hoke County about 9 miles outside of Aberdeen.

“The driver of a PT Cruiser was traveling South on Army Road at a high rate of speed when he went into a curve and lost control and hit a tree,” said North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The victim was riding in the front seat and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The vehicle had three other occupants with one backseat passenger flown to the UNCH trauma center, according to State Highway Patrol. The driver of the vehicle and one other backseat passenger were both transported to Moore Regional Hospital and later flown to UNCH.

Their injuries are unknown at this time.
