Three people were arrested in a shooting investigation in Aberdeen.
Elijah Jones, 18, of Southern Pines, Khalil McCrimmon, 18, of Carthage, and a juvenile male, 17, of Robbins, were arrested and are facing charges, said the Aberdeen Police Department in a press release on May 1.
On April 27, Aberdeen officers and investigators, along with North Carolina Highway Patrol, responded to the parking lot of Going Going Gone store in reference to a juvenile victim with a gunshot wound to the upper abdomen.

Upon arrival, several juveniles were present and attempting to render aid. Officers immediately began rendering life-saving measures and dressing the victim’s wounds until EMS arrived, and he was transported to UNC Chapel Hill for surgery. It was determined that the shooter and the accomplices had already left the scene. At this time, the victim is considered to be in stable condition.
“Aberdeen investigators began processing the scene and obtaining statements from witnesses,” said the Aberdeen Police Department. “Investigators were able to track the victim’s stolen wallet to a home in Carthage, where they found his property had been destroyed. The following day, Aberdeen Investigators continued to analyze evidence, conduct follow-ups, obtain statements, and review video surveillance.”

On April 28, warrants were obtained on Jones for felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, simple affray, carrying a concealed gun, discharging a firearm in city limits, and communicating threats.
On April 29, warrants were obtained on a juvenile male for felony aiding and abetting armed robbery, felony destroying criminal evidence, and simple assault, and on McCrimmon for felony accessory after the fact and felony destroying criminal evidence.
On April 29, McCrimmon was arrested by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office and taken before a Moore County magistrate and given a $30,000 secured bond.
On April 30, Jones and the juvenile were arrested by Aberdeen investigators and taken before a Moore County magistrate. Jones was given no bond, pending a hearing before a judicial official. The juvenile was given no bond and transported to the Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Center.
Seventeen-year-old Kaleb Kelly was identified as the victim in the shooting by the communications director of GoFundMe, where a fundraiser was created to help pay Kelly’s medical bills.
