Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report last week of an attempted burglary.

The sheriff’s office said the “The female victim reported that someone had broken into her vehicle and then attempted to gain access to her residence through a window sometime during the night.”

The sheriff’s office received a second report Monday of breaking and entering in Vass, and a male suspect was seen on camera entering a female’s residence when she was not home.

“During the course of the investigation, deputies were able to identify a suspect in each case as being 19-year-old Jessie Kaymodd McLean,” said Sheriff Godfrey.  “McLean was taken into custody and transported to the Moore County Detention Center. He has been charged with crimes related to both cases.”

McLean, of Vass, was charged with one count (felony) attempted first degree burglary, two counts (F) breaking or entering a motor vehicle, one count (misdemeanor) breaking and entering, one count (M) larceny, and two counts (M) secret peeping.

McLean was placed under a $17,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on September 11.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
