Aberdeen man arrested on violations of Sex Offender Registry

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrest of one individual for Sex Offender Registry violations in the Southern Pines area of Moore County.

On September 22, deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registry Unit opened an investigation into a possible violation of compliance with the Sex Offender Registry. After further investigation, it was found that the offender was residing less than 1,000 feet from a school/children’s daycare facility.

On October 1, deputies obtained warrants for arrest on the offender. Deputies then executed a search warrant at the offender’s residence and placed him into custody without incident.

Deputies arrested Luis Videz, 32, of Aberdeen. Videz was charged with failure to report new address-sex offender, failure to inform of new/changes to online identifiers, and two counts of sex offender residence violation.

Videz was confined to the Moore County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond and is first scheduled to appear in Moore County district court on October 27.
