An Aberdeen man has been charged with felony drug offenses following a vehicle crash investigation late last year, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.
Police said officers responded Dec. 1, 2025, to a parking lot near the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 and U.S. 15-501 in reference to a vehicle crash. When officers arrived, they identified the individuals involved, including William Arnold, 42, of Aberdeen.
According to authorities, dispatchers informed officers that Arnold had multiple outstanding warrants, and he was taken into custody at the scene.
While at the vehicle, officers reportedly observed drug paraphernalia in plain view on the driver’s seat, including a scale with residue and needles. A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered additional paraphernalia and two bags containing suspected narcotics, police said.
Authorities said Arnold was arrested at the time on the outstanding warrants and for possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspected narcotics were submitted to the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory for testing.
Lab results returned March 25 confirmed the substances were methamphetamine and fentanyl, police said. Officers obtained additional warrants the following day, charging Arnold with felony possession of fentanyl and felony possession of methamphetamine.
According to police, Arnold was being held at the Hoke County Jail at the time, and the warrants were forwarded to that agency.
Arnold was transported April 2 to Moore County by the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office and appeared before a Moore County magistrate, where he was given a $7,500 secured bond.
All charges are allegations, and Arnold is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
