Accident takes out power pole

A vehicle accident took out a power pole Wednesday in Eastwood.

Around 3 p.m., Eastwood Fire Department and EMS were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on Highway 73 in the area just past the fire station.

Units arrived on the scene to find an International service truck had run off the road heading east and struck a power pole snapping it in half. As a result, power lines were also down across the roadway.

EMS was canceled shortly after units arrived on the scene due to no injuries.

Randolph Electric was dispatched, and crews were on scene quickly to begin making repairs. A cable box was also destroyed, and Spectrum was on scene making repairs. Power crews estimated approximately 4-6 hours before repairs would be completed and the roadway reopened.

Traffic was diverted onto Murdocksville Road and Pine Hill Road.

Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the accident.

Responding to the scene were Eastwood Fire Department, Moore County EMS, N.C. State Highway Patrol and Randolph Electric.
