Deputies seize $22K worth of drugs

Moore County Sheriff’s Department has charged two people with multiple drug-related offenses following a search in Southern Pines on Thursday, announced Sheriff Ronnie Fields.

The sheriff’s department obtained a search warrant after a drug investigation and confiscated 208.6 grams of fentanyl, 24 grams of cocaine, 2.6 grams of marijuana, a firearm, $1,864 in cash, and drug paraphernalia after a search in the 1600 block of U.S. Highway 1 South. The department placed a $22,352 street value on the seized drugs.

A Pinebluff man and a woman from Fayetteville were arrested and placed at the Moore County Detention Center.

Zaquan Magee, 27, was placed under a $550,000 secured bond and charged with felony possession of schedule I controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule I controlled substance, trafficking opium or heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of firearm by felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor child abuse.

Ayla Brown, 28, was charged with possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and misdemeanor child abuse. Her unsecured bond was set at $2,500.

Both suspects are due in court on March 4 and presumed innocent until proven guilty.
