The Southern Pines Police Department announced Friday their employee of the quarter.  Officer Austin Hubbard received the Employee of the Quarter Award for the second quarter in 2018.

In a news release, the department announced the award recognizes department employees who have provided exemplary service to the community, or performed in a manner worthy of recognition.

Officer Hubbard was selected due to his diligence, tenacity, professionalism and self-motivation investigating serious felony incidents and other violations of the law, which occurred during the second quarter of 2018.

The majority of these investigations were self-initiated by Officer Hubbard, which included (but not limited to) the following:

1. Forty two arrests, twenty six of which were drug related.
2. Forty six citations were issued.
3. Eight DWI/alcohol related arrests.
4. The seizure of 404 grams of marijuana.
5. Twenty eight items of drug paraphernalia were seized.
6. The seizure of 15 grams of crack cocaine. 
7. The seizure of 16 grams of heroin and opioid medication.
8. Two weapons were recovered.
9. $1535 in cash was recovered as evidence.

Chief Temme recently presented the award to Hubbard.

“It is always a pleasure to recognize outstanding performance and achievement displayed by our dedicated professional officers. Officer Austin Hubbard has only been a member of the Southern Pines Police Department for thirteen months, but his positive impact in our community has been immediate and significant. This award recognizes Officer Hubbard’s significant achievement and dedication to the mission, vision and values of our department.”

The award is the result of a peer nomination and action by the supervisory and leadership team of the Southern Pines Police Department.
