A man is facing six charges, including failure to report an accident and DWI, after allegedly hitting multiple vehicles between Eagle Springs and Robbins on Friday morning.
According to authorities, a man driving a rental Ford F-250 swiped multiple vehicles. Two state troopers worked different parts of the scene because it stretched nearly 1.5 miles. One trooper believed a total of five cars were hit.Â
The man driving the F-250 was uninjured, and the rental truck had damage to the right front. Troopers gave him a field sobriety test and Breathalyzer and called for an EMS unit to draw blood.Â
A Honda SUV was hit at Big Oak Church Road. There were no injuries in that vehicle. The Honda had moderate damage down the driver’s side of the car. Another impacted car was just west of Big Oak Church Road; it had moderate damage to the rear of the vehicle.Â
Troopers said there were a few minor injuries from the incident. The man was heading west on Highway 24/27; all other drivers were heading east. The man came to a stop near McDuffie Road.
While an Eagle Springs firefighter attempted to stop traffic to allow an EMS unit to leave the scene, a driver ignored commands and continued to drive. Moore County deputies immediately left the scene and pulled over the vehicle.
Officials say it’s important to remember that N.C. has a move-over law for the safety of first responders. When approaching emergency vehicles, you must slow down and move over if able.
