New cafe to open at The Outpost

On Tuesday afternoon, Pinehurst restaurateurs Daniel Gironda and Miah Magno officially announced the opening of the village’s newest cafe—Brim. The cafe will serve as a cozy, community-centered gathering spot offering artisan coffee, an array of desserts, scratch-made meals, and new community events including live music, speakers, and family movie nights in partnership with the Given Tufts Bookshop at The Outpost.

Brim’s menu will feature espresso drinks, specialty lattes, Italian cream sodas, and a curated dessert bar. Brim will also offer fresh pastries, breakfast sandwiches, croissant melts, paninis, salads, and a rotating selection of meals provided by OTG Fresh.

“We want Brim to feel like Pinehurst’s living room,” said Gironda and Magno in a press release. “Whether you’re popping in for your morning coffee, meeting a friend for dessert, visiting the bookshop with your kids, or joining us for live music or community events, this space is for you.”

While Brim introduces a new chapter to this treasured location, Gironda and Magno recognize the deep roots and love the community has for the space. “We understand what this place means to so many, and we are committed to honoring that legacy. Our aim is to be thoughtful stewards—creating something meaningful, warm, and welcoming for everyone who walks through the door.”

Both owners bring years of experience in food, hospitality, and community. Fiancés Gironda and Magno are partners in both life and business, bringing their shared passion for good food and drink and genuine connection to Brim.

Gironda grew up in the kitchen of his family restaurant, Vito’s. He later cooked alongside his grandfather, Chuck Priest, a classically trained chef who ran multiple country club kitchens in the area. From there, Gironda managed kitchens and cafes throughout Moore County — including Nature’s Own and the beloved Flynne’s Coffee Shop where he discovered his passion for coffee. Today, he oversees operations at the cafe inside the Sandhills Community College, a space named in honor of his grandfather, Chuck Priest, where he works alongside his mother, Hollie Gironda, a locally loved caterer.

Magno is the director and head chef of OTG Fresh, a successful scratch-made meal delivery company known for its restaurant-quality food curated with care. She previously worked as a supervisor at Starbucks, giving her extensive experience slingin’ joe. Magno said she brings a unique blend of operational excellence and deep care for customer experience, driven by her commitment to good food and hospitality.

“Our families have called Pinehurst home for decades,” said Gironda and Magno. “We’re not just here to serve coffee—we’re here to listen, to grow, and to build something beautiful with the community.”

Gironda and Magno said they are dedicated to fostering a vibrant literary and cultural hub at The Outpost, offering a welcoming space for community members and visitors alike.

“We are thrilled to support this promising new business that has deep roots in Pinehurst. We were all so impressed by Daniel and Miah’s vision. They have a clear track record of offering delicious, healthy food at Sandhills Community College, OTG Fresh, and Nature’s Own. And the Gironda family has been a staple of Pinehurst’s culinary scene for decades, so we are thrilled to welcome them to the Outpost,” said Given Tufts Foundation Chairman Stuart Mills.

Brim is aiming to open early next month, with a phased approach to ensure minimal disruption to regular building operations. Gironda and Magno said patrons can anticipate an expanded menu featuring local vendors and a renewed commitment to making The Outpost a vibrant cultural and community hub, focused on supporting the Given Memorial Library, Tufts Archives, and the Village of Pinehurst.
