Obituary Steven Leroy Utley

Steven Leroy Utley Sr., 68, was born in Aberdeen, North Carolina on June 20, 1952 to the late Martha Kate Utley and Hallie Cain. He departed this earthly home on November 8, 2020 at his home in Aberdeen, North Carolina.

Apostle S. L. Utley was the pastor of Hallies Chapel Deliverance Center, Inc. in Aberdeen, North Carolina. He was a lifelong and faithful member of the church, serving in multiple capacities. He was superintendent of Sunday school, president of the Voices of Joy, guitar and organ player and song leader. In his lifetime he had a youth choir and adult choir. He built the house of God back up to where it is now.

He was employed at Hamilton Beach Proctor Silex for 48 years. He retired on April 20, 2020.

His hobbies were landscaping and making tapes and DVDs. In his quiet time, he loved to play the guitar. He also loved taking the church members to Mac’s Breakfast every Sunday after church. His favorite saying was “Let the Good Times Roll.”

He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories: his wife, Elder Linda Utley; his sons, Calvin Thomas, Sr. and Steven Utley, Jr. (Dianna); his daughters, Tina Martin (Tim) and Kenya Utley, all of Aberdeen, North Carolina; his sisters, Irene Hill of Aberdeen, North Carolina and Madeline Wooten of Vass, North Carolina; his brother, Willie Jame Cain, Jr. of Aberdeen, North Carolina; a host of grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

A walkthrough family visitation will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Jones and Little Funeral Home in Aberdeen, North Carolina. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only 10 people at a time will be allowed in the chapel. All in attendance must wear face coverings.
