Lonnie Arlene Davis, 90, of Southern Pines, passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at FirstHealth Hospice House.

A memorial service to honor Arlene’s life will be held at The Hospice Chapel on Campground Road in Pinehurst on Monday, Dec. 18, at 4 p.m.

Born in Anson County on July 1, 1927, she was the daughter of Lonnie R. and Annie Viola Dabbs. As a young woman, she moved to Richmond County, where she became an icon in the food and hospitality industry due to her amazing culinary skills.

In 1972, she settled in Southern Pines. Arlene continued to cultivate large followings and developed lifelong friendships at the Southern Pines Elks Lodge and at Henning’s Restaurant at the Holiday Inn.

Arlene was preceded in death by her siblings Elizabeth, Hamp, Jack, Joe, Marian, Rosa Lee, Virginia and Warren. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews and their families, as well as her beloved dog Riley.

Aunt Arlene was the rock of the family who kept all the others connected. She will be dearly missed by her family and all of her longtime friends and neighbors.
