S.P. man arrested at RDU on child sex crimes

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced in a news advisory an arrest following an investigation in the Southern Pines area of Moore County.

On Aug. 2, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a statutory rape in Southern Pines that occurred between January and April of 2023.

On Aug. 30, sheriff’s investigators arrested Vincent Ramos, age 39, of Southern Pines. Ramos was taken into custody without incident as he re-entered the country at RDU Airport in Raleigh. He was returning from work in Germany at the time of his arrest. Raleigh Durham Airport Police and Federal Air Marshals assisted in the arrest.

Ramos was transported to Moore County, where he was charged with one count of felony statutory rape of a child under 15 years of age, six counts of felony statutory sex offense with a child under 15, and two counts of indecent liberties with a child and was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $3,000,000 secured bond pending a first court appearance in Moore County district court on Sept. 20. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
