Stay Away 5K benefit Neighbors Feeding Neighbors

The Stay Away 5K raised over $5,785 to benefit Neighbors Feeding Neighbors, a grass-roots group of community-minded citizens supporting those most in need during COVID-19.

Participants walked or ran alone between April 11-18. The 5K was sponsored by Penick Village Foundation and First Bank.

Representatives from those groups (left to right in photo) Caitlin Terry, Resource Development Director Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills, Andrew Lyons, First Bank City Executive, Kate Petsolt, Neighbors Feeding Neighbors Founder, Fallon Brewington, Chief Executive Officer, Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills, and Jeff Hutchins, Chief Executive Officer, Penick Village met to celebrate with their running shoes and their yardstick (see above First Bank sign) for proper social distancing, to celebrate the many people (over 147 participants) in our community that put on their running shoes and donated to help local families and local restaurants get through this difficult time.

The Boys & Girls Club has been partnering with Neighbors Feeding Neighbors and the Moore County Schools to distribute food to families in need in the community. They fed over 2,400 people last week alone.

Even though the Stay Away 5K is complete, (except for distributing the t-shirts which will be done after the shelter at home order is lifted) anyone that would like to donate can still do so through Neighbors Feeding Neighbors at www.teamgreeninc.org

First Bank covered the costs of the t-shirts so that every penny raised from the Stay Away 5K went directly to Neighbors Feeding Neighbors.
