Truck hits power pole

The driver of a Dodge Ram pickup escaped injury in a single-vehicle accident Monday in Aberdeen around 6 p.m.

He was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 1 when he lost control by Summit Street just past the former Aberdeen Elementary School. The truck went off the road taking out a street sign before striking a power pole nearly breaking it in half.

The truck suffered heavy front end damage. The driver was the only occupant and did not require medical treatment.

One southbound lane of the highway was closed while emergency crews worked the scene.

Duke Energy was on scene making necessary repairs.

Responding to the scene were Aberdeen Fire Department and Aberdeen Police Department.
