Two arrested for setting brush fire after conflict with neighbor

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said two people from Pinebluff are accused of intentionally setting a brush fire in Aberdeen. No information was provided about the location of the Aberdeen fire, which occurred on Friday.

“Sheriff’s investigators and NC Forestry Service personnel responded and determined that the fire had been intentionally set,” said Fields in a press release. “Investigators subsequently located and arrested Caitlyn Moore, age 20, and Myron Hash, age 23, both of Pinebluff, North Carolina in connection with the fire. During the arrest, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located.”

Moore and Hash were arrested on charges of one count of felony setting fire to woodlands, one count of felony conspiracy, one count of misdemeanor conspiracy, one count of injury to real property, one count of misdemeanor possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana, and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

“Investigators believe this was not a random act and that Moore and Hash deliberately targeted the property where the fire occurred following a conflict with a nearby resident,” said Fields.

The suspects were released on a written promise pending a first court appearance in court on March 21.
