Carthage teen accused of breaking into Aberdeen business

The Aberdeen Police Department announced in a news release the arrest of Aaron Dowd, 18, of Carthage.

On March 8, officers responded to a business at Highway 211 and Indiana Ave regarding a breaking and entering and larceny. After further investigation, witness testimony, and review of video surveillance, officers identified the suspect as Dowd. Based on the evidence collected, an arrest warrant was issued for Dowd.

Aberdeen Police officers and deputies from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office attempted to locate Dowd in the coming days. On March 13, Dowd was located with the assistance of the Southern Pines Police Department and was subsequently arrested on the outstanding warrants and additional charges from neighboring agencies.

Dowd was charged with felony breaking or entering a building, felony possession of burglary tools, and larceny. He was jailed without bond.

All suspects and persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
