Bethesda Cemetery was damaged Wednesday by an unidentified motorist. Aberdeen Police is asking for your help, and a $1,000.00 reward has been offered.

The cemetery has long been a place of peace and serenity for the living as well as those that have passed on. It’s graves can be traced back to the American Revolution and the early days of those that settled the area. It’s beauty and vast expanse draws visitors to graves of loved ones, and even people on walks that enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the site.

That beauty and serenity was shattered when someone chose to barrel through the grave sites in a vehicle destroying the final resting places for friends and family. The vehicle struck with such force that some pieces of the car remained on the ground mixed among the overturned and broken granite markers. Tire tracks can be seen through the damaged areas.

The Bethesda Presbyterian  Association is offering a $1,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Please contact the Aberdeen Police Department at 910-944-9721 or the Tip Line at 910-944-4561 if you have information about this crime.
