Three Moore County men are accused of stealing scrap metal.

Moore County Sheriff’s Department received reports on January 5 and January 10 of stolen property in West End which included scrap metal, said a Friday news release from Sheriff Ronnie Fields. The news release did not state what the other stolen property was.

“Investigators identified three suspects during the investigation that followed and recovered property that had been stolen,” said Sheriff Fields.

Deputies arrested one suspect last Sunday and two more suspects were arrested Wednesday.  Arrested were Evan Rin Saunders, Jonathon Patrick Lee, and Joshua Cummings.

Saunders, 30, of West End, was charged with one count of felony larceny and one count of felony possession of stolen goods. He was confined to the Moore County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond pending a first appearance in Moore County District Court on January 23.

Lee, 29, of Jackson Springs, and Cummings, 31, of Jackson Springs, both were charged with one count of felony larceny, one count of felony possession of stolen goods, and two counts of felony obtaining money by false pretense. Both suspects were each placed under $50,000 secured bonds and have court dates on January 24, according to arrest records.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
