A man was transported to the hospital Friday night after crashing his truck in Cameron. Emergency units were dispatched to the single-vehicle accident shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Lamms Grove Road near Denny Lane.
According to authorities, a Chevrolet 2500 truck traveling on Lamms Grove Road toward U.S. 15-501 ran off the shoulder of the road, overcorrected and skidded off the opposite side of the road, crashing head-on into a tree. The truck had extensive damage from the crash.
Carthage Fire Department was dispatched as a second rescue due to the driver being trapped, but it was canceled before arriving on the scene as the patient was freed from the vehicle.
Air care was also initially requested but later canceled.
Lamms Grove Road was closed for a brief period while the patient was being extricated from the vehicle and loaded into an ambulance, and then one lane was opened while crews continued to work the scene and the vehicle could be removed.
N.C. State Highway Patrol was on scene and is investigating the crash.
