Irene Cecelia Grossheim of Seven Lakes, passed away on December 23rd, 2023, after a brief illness. Irene was born May 29, 1931, in Green Island, New York, to the late Mitchell A. Marcil and Irene Marcil (McGrath).
Irene married her late loving husband of 62 years, Ralph E. Grossheim. During Ralph’s distinguished career with Alcoa, Irene and Ralph lived a unique life, residing in a variety of locations including New Jersey, Washington, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Texas, Suriname, and Trinidad. Irene and Ralph retired to Seven Lakes in 1992 where they spent many happy years together with close friends.
Irene is survived by her son Ralph Jr. and wife Becky, daughters Gail and Reanie, son Todd, son Kurt and wife Joy. Irene was a beloved grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Justin, Kelly, Kristina, Lindsay, Melissa, Ryan, Braden, Samantha, Stephen, Ava, Sam, and Konrad. She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren.
Irene’s lifelong passion was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured every minute with her adoring loved ones. Irene’s quick wit and humor endeared her to all who knew her. Her hobbies included Bridge, achieving the status of a “Life Master”, as well as Mahjong. Irene was an avid Notre Dame football fan who looked forward to Saturdays in the Fall. Traveling the world, cooking delicious meals for her family, and tending to her beloved dachshund, Ruby were all activities Irene cherished.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
