Marsha Ellen Brown, age 65, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020 at First Health Hospice House in the loving care of her family.
Marsha was a native of Eagle Springs, NC, and was preceded in death by her father, the late Roy Harrison Brown, Mother, Bonnie Ellen Moore Brown, and Brother, William George Brown.
Marsha graduated from North Moore high school in 1972 where she lettered in Basketball. After graduation, she went on to obtain her associates degree in Nursing and Registered Nurse accreditation from Sandhills Community College in 1974. She then obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina. Marsha worked in the healthcare community as a nurse and as a hospital administrator at several hospitals over her career.
She loved the arts and was an avid painter. She loved sports and could talk about the ACC and NFL with ease. She was a fierce competitor and would challenge her grandchildren to friendly games of one on one basketball and horse. But Marsha was also equally at home curled up with a good book or outside gardening.
Marsha is survived by her son, Jonathan Adam Hawkins, his wife, Ann Gerber Hawkins and grandchildren: Dixon Everett Hawkins , Jonathan Harris Hawkins, and Emerson Elizabeth Hawkins, sister, Carolyn Brown Ussery (Pete), nephew, William George Burns (Kelli, Wills, and Miles) and niece, Kimberly Beth Brown (Joshua French and Jacob French).
A celebration of Marsha’s life will be held at Pleasant View Friends Church at 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2020, with the Reverend Lowell Brown officiating.
Memorials can be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Pleasant View Friends Church, 13942 NC Hwy 24/27, Eagle Springs, NC 27242.
