Richard B. Long, Sr. passed away March 31st following a brief illness. Rick was born in 1937 to Norman Franklin Long of Bethlehem PA and Dora Mae Tyner Long of Hoffman NC. He was a graduate of Norwich University, class of 1960 and served as an Army officer on active duty and in the Army reserves for 24 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He also worked in the computer industry for many years selling hardware and owned a successful real estate business on Cape Cod. Rick enjoyed membership in the Rotary Club, including serving as chapter president, as well as being an avid fisherman and sport shooter. He was a Civil War enthusiast and spent many hours following up on the Tyner family members who were part of that war.

Rick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia, three sons, Richard, Jr. and wife, Sheryl, David and wife Judy and Norman and wife Patti along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral will be at West End Presbyterian Church Tuesday, April 10th at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at 2:00 p.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
