Antisemitic signs removed from bridges in Vass, Cameron

A Moore County Deputy shot an armed suspect after a confrontation Saturday evening in Northern Moore County, said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a statement.

“The Moore County Sheriff’s Office communications center received a call stating that there was a disturbance at her home in the 1600 block of Chrisco Road W in the Westmoore community of northern Moore County, said Sheriff Fields.  “The information given by the caller said that a female was beating on the door of the residence while in possession of a firearm.”

Deputy Kimberly Edwards arrived on scene to find the individual left the area. The female returned a few minutes later and “exited her car with a handgun.”

“The Deputy immediately gave loud verbal commands ordering the subject to drop the weapon,” said Sheriff Fields.  “The subject then raised the weapon pointing it at the Deputy.  The Deputy fired at the suspect striking her.

Emergency care was immediately performed on the female, and EMS was dispatched to the scene. Authorities did not release the condition of the patient.

Edwards was placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure. She has been a Moore County Deputy for nearly 7 years. In 2007, she began her career with the sheriff’s office as a telecommunicator.

The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
