Town to remove dying sycamore on Broad Street

The Town of Southern Pines has put together the FY 23-24 Budget: Resident’s Review, a four-page overview that highlights the proposed budget.

“We understand that budgets can sometimes be overwhelming with lots of technical data, so we have outlined some key information,” said the town on its website.

The Resident’s Review focuses on 2023 property taxes and the impacts of the re-evaluation process. The budget is based on a 29-cent tax rate, which is 11 cents lower than last year’s rate of 40 cents.

“We’ve included some information to help you calculate your Southern Pines property tax bill so you can plan ahead,” said the town.

The Resident’s Review also includes details on resident fees and rates for solid waste, water and sewer, library, and recreation. Other details outline how the town’s revenues are split into different service areas.

“We hope that this Resident’s Review will be a helpful resource for you as we move forward with the budgeting process,” said the town. “If you have any questions or want to provide feedback on the budget, there are many ways to reach Town staff and Council.”
