Water main work continues

The Town of Southern Pines will continue work on the water transmission lines under Highway 1 on Tuesday, March 12, and Saturday, March 16.

Tuesday’s work will happen overnight, starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday and continuing through Wednesday at 3 a.m.

The work on Saturday will take place during the day, and residents are being asked to limit unnecessary water use during the day. The work, originally scheduled for last Saturday, was postponed due to the high amount of rain.

The water main at Highway 1 and Poplar Street will undergo necessary maintenance and line extension work by DOT contractors. The water main will be shut down Tuesday night and Saturday during the day. During this time, the Town will supply water from its elevated water storage facilities.

“While we do not anticipate any issues, your help in conserving water during this time will help ensure water pressure remains sufficient for critical needs,” said the Town. “Thank you for your consideration of this voluntary request. If you have any questions, you may call the Town of Southern Pines Utilities at 910-692-1983 during normal business hours.”
