Arrest made in Aberdeen armed robbery case

Aberdeen Police Department announced an arrest in a 2022 armed robbery case.

“Patrol Officers with the Aberdeen Police Department responded to the area of W Saunders Ave and Pinehurst St, in reference to a robbery and assault,” said Aberdeen Police Department in a news advisory regarding the May 20, 2022 crime. “The victim reported that he was walking to a local business, when a vehicle occupied by two white males and a white female, approached him. The victim stated the two males exited the vehicle and one pointed a handgun at him, threatened him, and robbed him of his personal property that was in his possession.”

Arrest warrants were obtained for Jose Pinson and Rene Pinson after officers obtained a video recording of the robbery during the investigation. Rene Pinson was arrested by Aberdeen officers on May 22, 2022, on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault by pointing a gun. 

Jose Pinson, 25, of West End, was located and arrested in Hoke County on Sunday.

“On April 7, 2024, Jose Pinson was located and served with his outstanding warrant,” said the Aberdeen Police Department. “He was taken before a Moore County Magistrate and was remanded to the Moore County Detention Center under a $125,000.00 secured bond for charges out of Aberdeen, and an additional $125,000.00 secured bond for outstanding warrants from Southern Pines Police.”

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
