Two bike riders were transported to Moore Regional Hospital after an accident Sunday morning. The cyclists were traveling south on May Street in Southern Pines when a pick-up truck struck one of the riders. The impact sent her into the other bike causing them to crash on the side of the road. It was reported that the cyclists had moved to the edge of the roadway to allow the car to pass and failed to notice the pickup traveling behind the car. The driver of the truck immediately stopped and remained with the victims until emergency crews arrived. Both cyclists were treated at the scene and transported by EMS to the hospital. Responding to the accident were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Southern Pines Police Department.
