Carthage teen charged attempted first degree murder

A Carthage teen is behind bars Friday charged with attempted first-degree murder, according to a statement by Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.

Authorities say Joshua Elijah Munnerlyn, 18, of Carthage, shot at an occupied vehicle at the Gold Star Food Mart on Lobelia Road outside of Vass on Feb. 21.

Moore County Deputies charged Munnerlyn with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied property inflicting serious bodily injury.

The suspect’s bond was set at $500,000. He has a May 5 court date and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
