Firefighters stop mobile home fire from spreading into woods

Firefighters successfully prevented a mobile home fire from spreading to nearby woods.

At around 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning, firefighters were called to Highway 705 and Northcutt Road in the Westmoore community. Upon their arrival, they discovered the remnants of a deserted mobile home in flames, with the fire advancing toward the nearby woods.

“When we arrived, I thought the truck was on fire,” said Westmoore Fire Chief David Kennedy. “The fire was about to the tires.”

The mobile home was currently being demolished, and the fire started from the insulation being burned.

“You can’t burn that kind of stuff,” said Kennedy. “It has to be taken to the landfill.”

The fire is being investigated by Moore County Public Safety.

No one was injured during the fire.
