mother daughter escape fire

Shortly after noon Friday, the local community of Carolina Lakes in Cameron suffered a traumatic loss as a mother and son frantically escaped a mobile home fire resulting in a complete loss of the residence.

The mother and son were home enjoying time together while the father was at work when the blaze broke out.  It spread quickly as she grabbed her child and ran outside to alert neighbors and call the fire department.

The community was relieved how quickly emergency crews arrived on the scene. The first fire units arrived on the scene within 10-15 minutes.

Emergency crews from around the local area responded to the scene. Ten fire trucks, two ambulances, four sheriff vehicles, and over 20 emergency personnel were called to action and helped extinguish the flames that had engulfed the structure.

No emergency personnel was injured on the scene, and the family escaped with no injuries.

Responding units were Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue, Carthage Fire and Rescue, Southern Pines Fire Department, Moore County EMS, and Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
