Joann Ruth Morton Wicker Wyman of Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of Tabor City and Moore County, died Monday, Jan. 20. She was 84.

Born May 29, 1935 in Denver, Colorado, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Ethel Morton, and the widow of the late Raymond Blackwell Wicker Jr.

She came to Tabor City in 1962, living here until 2006, when she made her home in Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband; daughter Laura Beth Wicker Lee; two brothers, Ralph Morton and John Morton; a sister, Jean Nutter; and a granddaughter Heather Niven.

She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Wyman of the home; two brothers, Wayne Morton of Aberdeen and Jerry Morton of Texas; a daughter, Kathleen Morton Wicker of Tabor City; a son, Raymond Morton Wicker of Mebane; grandchildren William Turbeville, Jessica Lynn Lewis, Elizabeth Niven Godwin, Sara Anne Spivey, William Thomas Niven III, David Matthew Niven, Ashley Pinyan, and Lauren Elizabeth Wicker; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life drop-in/visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Dale’s Seafood Restaurant in Tabor City.

A local graveside service will be held on Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. at Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen.
