obituary John L. Petitti Seven Lakes

John L. Petitti, 79, of 7 Lakes, NC and formerly Bridgeport, CT., passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 8th, with his family by his bedside.

Born in Bridgeport on Aug. 12, 1941, he was the son of the late Leonard and Millie (Auriemme) Petitti.  John started working in construction as a young man; a trade he would carry with him.  On May 25th, 1974, he married Janet D’Archangelo of Bridgeport.  The two moved to Newtown where John would own his own construction company and was a proud member of the Local 478 (Heavy Machine Operators).  A year after his retirement in 2003, he moved to Moore County, NC.  John enjoyed working in the garden, tending to his yard and he still applied the skills he developed in his life.  John was a gifted Mason who took pride in his work, but his greatest love was his family.  He always put them first and did everything for them.

John is survived by his wife Janet of 46 years.  He was the father of John Petitti, Jr, Nichole Petitti, Danielle Dubee (fiancé Scott Waddington) and Christopher Petitti (companion Lydia Socci).  He is also survived by 1 brother, Joseph Weckerly (wife Patty); one grandchild, Alexis Cocco (fiancé R. Brown Sanford); and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the Victory Community Baptist Church, 915 Brinkley Rd. Carthage, NC on Sunday Dec. 13th at 2:00 p.m.  The family will receive friends at the church prior to the ceremony starting at 1:00.  Covid precautions will be observed.
