Phyllis Kennedy Vaughn, 73, of Aberdeen, passed away Friday, January 19th, surrounded by her family at her home.

Visitation will be held at the Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Ave. Southern Pines, on Sunday, Jan. 28th, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Born in Thomasville on November 6, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and “Shorty” Kennedy. Phyllis was a graduate of Trinity High School class of 1963 and went on to graduate from Ashmore Business College in Thomasville. In 1964 she married Jerry Vaughn. They would move to Fayetteville for a short time before settling in Aberdeen in 1978. Phyllis wore many hats, including being a sales rep for a foam manufacturing business, she was the manager of Cabin Branch tack shop in Southern Pines and even had her own home cleaning business. She enjoyed reading and crocheting and had been active in “horse country”.

A devoted wife and mother, Phyllis is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jerry Vaughn; their daughters: Nikki West, husband Jim, Paige Hartsell and Robyn Marksberry, husband Chris. She was the grandmother of Katherine, Alex, Grace, Caroline, Max, C.J., Nicholas, Christopher, Jr. and Michael.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to FirstHealth Hospice, 150 Applecross Rd. Pinehurst, or to the FirstHealth Moore regional, c/o Pulmonary Center.
