Officers recover cocaine, oxycodone after traffic stop

A 51-year-old Southern Pines man is facing charges of possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, possession of scheduled II controlled substance, trafficking opium and maintaining a vehicle for the sale of controlled substances.

According to a press release from the Southern Pines Police Department, Christopher McNeill was placed under a $30,000 secured bond at the Moore County Detention Center on Saturday. 

“On May 6, 2023, members of the Southern Pines Police Department’s Directed Patrol Unit conducted a traffic stop for an observed motor vehicle violation,” said Southern Pines Police Department. “After an alert to the presence of narcotics by a department K-9, Christopher Alexander McNeill and his vehicle were searched.

The department said officers located and confiscated 242 oxycodone pills, 6.60 grams of cocaine, and $405. 

The suspect’s court date is set for Wednesday. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
