Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

A Southern Pines woman faces drug charges after a traffic stop in Vass.

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said in a news advisory that Lavonia Cagle, 44, was pulled over in the 100 block of Union Church Road on Wednesday, March 29.

“During the traffic stop, Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle,” said Fields. “As a result of the search, Deputies located cocaine and items of drug paraphernalia.”

Cagle was charged with felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was also served with outstanding warrants for uttering a forged instrument, forgery of instrument, larceny of chose in action, and failure to return rental property.

The suspect was placed under a $32,500 secured bond at the Moore County Detention Center, is due in court on April 6, and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
