Moore County Sheriff’s Department arrested two men this week in connection to car break-in cases they had been investigating since the summer.
Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced in a news advisory that his team had been alerted to a series of car break-ins in and around the Seven Lakes West community in West End.
The break-ins occurred between mid-August and early October, said Fields.
“Sheriff’s investigators conducted surveillance operations in the area resulting in multiple search warrants being executed at residences throughout the West End and Eagle Springs areas of Moore County over the past week where multiple items of stolen property related to these cases were recovered,” said Fields.
On Oct. 27, investigators arrested Corey Campbell, 18, of Eagle Springs, in connection with one of the incidents. As of Oct. 30, Campbell has been charged with 14 counts of felony breaking or entering a motor vehicle, one count of felony breaking or entering a law enforcement vehicle, one count of felony breaking or entering a building, four counts of felony larceny after breaking or entering, six counts of felony larceny of a firearm, seven counts of felony possession of a stolen firearm, one count of felony larceny, one count of felony possession of stolen goods, one count of larceny of law enforcement equipment, one count of felony financial card theft, six counts of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods, five counts of misdemeanor larceny, and one count of injury to property. He was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $325,000 secured bond pending a first court appearance in court on Nov. 15.
On Oct. 26, investigators arrested Javan Overton, 36, of Eagle Springs. Overton was charged with one count of felony possession of a stolen firearm and one count of felony possession of stolen property. Overton was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond pending a first court appearance in court on Nov. 16.
