Richard E. “Rick” Slack, Jr., 54, passed away at the FirstHealth Hospice House on Monday, July 15th.

A life-long Moore County resident, Rick was a graduate of Pinecrest High School, class of 1983.  He was on the Track Team and played Baseball for the Patriots.  After graduation Rick began working as a plumber; a career that lasted 25 years.  He was a man that couldn’t sit still; whether it was working in the yard, fixing up the house or enjoying time hunting and fishing.  Rick’s 1st priority had always been to take care of his family.

Rick was the son of Richard E. “Dick” Slack and the late Willie Faye Hardy Slack.  He is survived by his wife Cheryl Slack,  son Richard E. Slack, III and grandson Richard E. Slack, IV.  He was the brother of Kim Salmon, husband Joe, and Deb Wallace, husband Kevin.  Rick is also survived by his nephews Joey and Ryan Salmon and niece Devin Wallace and also the mother of his grandson, Liz Mikulskis and former wife Debbie Gregor.

A committal service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 405 W. Morganton Rd. Southern Pines, Saturday July 20th at 10:00 AM.
