A propane truck crashed near Carthage Thursday. The accident took place just before 12:30 p.m. on Highway 15-501 North, a few hundred yards from Stage Road.
When authorities arrived on the scene, they found a Diversified Energy propane tank had flipped on its side off of the roadway into a field. The truck was the only vehicle involved in the accident. Diversified Energy is a propane supplier out of Harnett County.
It appeared the driver ran off the right side of the road and lost control before the truck landed on its side on the opposite side of the highway. North Carolina Department of Transportation was on scene repairing the shoulder of the highway. The exact cause of the accident is being investigated by the State Highway Patrol.
The driver was taken by EMS to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, according to Carthage Fire and Rescue. His condition is unknown at this time.
Highway 15-501 was closed for a period of time from McCrimmon Road to Red Branch Road.
Responding to the scene were Carthage Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, State Highway Patrol, and NC-DOT.
