Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields is warning residents of a current scam circulating around the county.
Fields announced Saturday the sheriff’s office received reports that citizens are receiving scam phone calls.
“We have been alerted to calls being made this weekend notifying persons that they are in violation of a certain court order and the only way to avoid immediate arrest is payment over the phone,” said Fields in a statement.
He said no one from the sheriff’s office will ever contact citizens “and ask for money in lieu of arrest.”
