The busy afternoon commute in Aberdeen was slowed after a car overturned on Friday afternoon. The vehicle flipped shortly before 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 and Highway 15-501, and though no one was injured as a result of the wreck, both highways saw significant delays in traffic due to a temporary road closure.Â
The single-vehicle crash occurred just after the driver of the Toyota Corolla had taken a right-hand turn from U.S. Highway 1. After veering from the highway, the vehicle spun before overturning and coming to a stop facing the opposite direction of the flow of traffic.Â
Authorities confirmed that the driver was evaluated by EMS, but he declined transport and was able to remain on the scene.
Highway 15-501 was brought down to one lane while authorities investigated and Rockwell Towing removed the vehicle. Traffic on U.S Highway 1 backed up significantly while the scene was being cleared.Â
